I first discovered Behind the Bow around a year ago, and since then their videos have been some of my favorite to watch. If you want to learn a little about hunting public land, or just become inspired, be sure to check out their YouTube channel here.

Being that I'm now in my second week living back in Minnesota, I've had a little time to get out and scout some public land in the northern big woods. Hunting big woods public land is something that I want to spend more and more time doing in the future.

If I had to make a list of the absolute best deer hunting shows out there, no doubt Heartland Bowhunter would be at the top. Beyond their normal show they create, they also produce a mini-series that airs on CarbonTV called Behind the Draw. Well, season four just dropped, and I wanted to bring that to your attention if you didn't already know.

If you're looking for another outlet to get your whitetail fix, I've got a good one for you. The guys over at The Breaking Point just kicked off releasing their Season 4 episodes. I've watched this show progress over the last couple of years, and they have continually improved and become one of my favorites. What I particularly enjoy is the realness they bring that the average deer hunter can relate too. Not to mention, they're dang good hunters, and knock down some big bucks.

This shed season was one for the books. I have notoriously been a sub-par shed hunter in my life, but this year I had what I'd call a "breakthrough". It was quite the spring, and I couldn't have drawn it up much better. Hopefully I can improve again next year! With that being said, here is the video from my shed season. I hope you enjoy!

In this video, I take a trip down to Nebraska to do a little turkey hunting with my cousin. It was quite the hunt, as I was able to harvest a bird on my first ever hunt, and it didn't take long!
Ever since moving to North Dakota prior to the 2015 deer season, I have still managed to hunt a fair amount where I came from, that being in Minnesota. Every now again, for one reason or another, I make it back to my hometown in the Northeastern part of the state, and am able to hunt there, and I also have a few pieces of public land that I hunt located a bit closer to where I live now.
The best way to describe this years rut for me was quite simply that it was a roller coaster. There were some very close encounters, and missed opportunities as well. It was an up and down rut, as most are, but it was filled with many lessons, and teaching opportunities. I hope you enjoy watching some of my 2016 rut!
Looking back on my 2016 season, October was brutal. I went over a month in between mature buck sightings, and the month of October produced exactly zero encounters with shooter bucks. I am very excited to launch my new Vlog series. I have always wanted to produce some type of video content, and I think for now this structure will fit me well. Most vlogs are going to be short and to the point. During the off-season they will usually be following what I am doing on a certain day. Then during the season I will be bringing my hunts and my success and failure in the woods. So follow along, and hopefully you will be able to learn something every once in a while!

In the 2016 season, I was able to harvest a beautiful mature 9 pointer during the late season. It was a brutally cold December day, as temperatures plummeted close to negative 40 with the wind chill. Even though the weather was near unbearable, I had an epic hunt, and was able to cap it off with my first North Dakota whitetail!
